Microsoft supported Daniel to offer a sculpture to Mr. Bill Gates
Daniel stated:
"I liked the" introduction" on the Microsoft website for the "Microsoft Business Innovation event in Brussels""Are you ready? Welcome to the new world of work. A world where today's shocks are tomorrow's conventions. A world where your company needs to be ready for whatever tomorrow brings. Are you?" For my most recent work, I have been inspired by the ever changing environment that has been offered by Microsoft. The name of the sculpture is, "Wind of Change". The famous quote of Charles Darwin did cross my mind when I made the sculpture. "It is not the strongest of the species that survives, nor the most intelligent that survives. It is the one that is the most adaptable to change." Charles Darwin (1809-1882), English Naturalist and Author of the theory of evolution by natural selection. In my sculpture, I made the link between the changing environment and the change in art styles, from naturalism towards cubism and futurism... As some groups of artists were recognized to be the innovators of their time on art level, so Microsoft is "the" recognized innovator in the software world. Change – Movement and Innovation are key elements in my sculptures. The project team of the "Microsoft Business Innovation event" decided at the last minute that the sculpture could be offered to Mr. Bill Gates during the Innovation event on the 9th of November in Brussels. The sculpture was standing in the waiting lounge of Mr. Bill Gates. According to the Microsoft staff, the first thing that he said were, from whom is this sculpture, what is the title ... I like it a lot. Immediately after the presentation of Windows Vista on the podium, I have been introduced to him backstage. Mr. Bill Gates was very enthusiastic about the sculpture. I did get the opportunity to explain the idea behind the sculpture; afterwards he showed a lot of interest by asking several questions. The splendid photographs have been made by Mr. Dann Cortier http://www.studiodann.com" |
